A LESSON IN LEARNING FROM FREETH CARTWRIGHT LAWYERS

Classmates Adam Dakri (six), Haleemah Takey (six), Mohamed Hussain Zaveri (six) and Zainab Hitar (six) get some extra help with their reading from lawyers at Leicester law firm Freeth Cartwright.

The youngsters all attend Uplands Infant School, on Melbourne Road, Leicester, which is visited on a regular basis by a team of Freeth Cartwright lawyers, who give up their time to help pupils learn to read as part of the national Right to Read initiative.

Harjit Saund, senior solicitor specialising in commercial property at the New Walk firm, commented: “It’s very rewarding and enjoyable. It’s nice to see the children progressing and, after you have been a few times, you can really see how they are understanding what they are reading and learning.”

Freeth Cartwright has a number initiatives aimed at helping community organisations, with lawyers visiting schools to spruce up gardens, mentoring youngsters about to go through the university application process and events through the year raise much-needed funds for charity, including Rainbows hospice.

Headteacher at the school, Gill Fletcher said: “All our children love reading one to one with an adult, it really boosts their self-confidence. We are very grateful for all the support we get from Freeth Cartwright.”
