FREETH CARTWRIGHT - OFFICIALLY ONE OF THE BEST 100 COMPANIES

Staff at law firm Freeth Cartwright always knew it was a good organisation to work for - and now it’s official.

sunday-times-group-shotresized.jpgThe firm, with offices in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Birmingham and Manchester, has been selected to join the coveted Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2008 list.

It’s a great accolade for Freeth Cartwright, particularly as it was the first time the firm had entered the awards and comes just a couple of weeks after it scooped a separate Best Companies award.

Chairman Colin Flanagan commented: “It’s great news for Freeth Cartwright. We have a vision for the firm and I believe that the result is testament to the teams of people who are working hard to turn that vision into reality and ensure that working at Freeth Cartwright is rewarding both professionally and personally. Ensuring that this is a great place to work is at the heart of our vision.

“While we are celebrating our achievements, we are also recognising that there is much more to be done and we will be examining the feedback and consulting staff further on where we can improve.”

There were in total 868 companies who entered the three categories that make up the awards, with the people at organizers Best Companies surveying 180,000 employee opinions in order for the lists to be compiled.

The employee survey is specifically designed to gain a view of workplace engagement, and looks at issues such as leadership, personal growth, wellbeing, team working, impact on society, employee engagement and whether employees are happy with pay and benefits.

Assessors particularly highlighted Freeth Cartwright’s family-friendly approach, providing staff with job share options, working from home, around school hours or other commitments and the provision of broadband, mobile phones and BlackBerry devices.

The employee feedback also highlighted support for Freeth Cartwright’s policy of putting something back into the community, such as its work with local schools and charities, and its pro bono work.

The two Best Company awards are the latest accolades for Freeth Cartwright, whose innovative Case Viewer, a bespoke software system that provides a comprehensive electronic work environment for lawyers, scooped a major national title when it won the Fee Earner Desktop/Portal of the Year Award category at the Legal Technology Awards.
