Regeneration move pays off for Freeth Cartwright
REGENERATION MOVE PAYS OFF FOR FREETH CARTWRIGHT
When law firm Freeth Cartwright moved into new premises in the prestigious Colton Square development in Leicester, it had ambitions of making a host of new appointments to expand the team.
And, in just a matter of months, the commercial law firm has made a significant number of new hires, boosting its already strong presence in the city and further enhancing the service offering to clients.
New partner Mike Cummins joins the firm from his own practice, while Kay Greig joins from HBJ Gateley Wareing. Mike and Kay have previously worked together and will provide clients with legal answers to employment law issues.
After two years away from the firm, which she first joined in 2003 as an associate, Mary Mackintosh has rejoined as a partner in the commercial services unit, specialising in commercial contracts and education. Joy Downes has joined as a solicitor in the real estate unit to carry out the full range of commercial property advice. Mary is pictured below.
Medico-legal specialist Robert Rushton has joined as a senior associate, having worked post-qualification for a number of firms carrying out defendant insurance work and claimant clinical negligence. Dr Darren Conway, also a medico-legal specialist, has also added his experience and knowledge to the team.
Managing partner Julian Middleton, pictured, commented: “Regeneration is key to the development of Leicester as a major city and it was crucial to us that we were part of that process by moving to Colton Square. The new offices have allowed us to expand our team with additional lawyers across a number of disciplines, including real estate, employment and medico-legal.”
Regeneration is a major focus for lawyers at Freeth Cartwright. In fact, one of its lawyers, Adam Watson, was nominated in the Best Newcomer category of the Midlands Property Awards, which took place at the ICC in Birmingham last month.
Leicester’s Curve performing arts venue was nominated in the Regeneration Development of the Year category, an award sponsored by Freeth Cartwright.
Real estate partner Richard Osborn, based at Freeth Cartwright’s Leicester office, commented: “We are currently advising on a number of regeneration projects, including the comprehensive redevelopment of town centres and have particular expertise and specialism in this field. We are delighted to be sponsoring the award and good luck to Curve (and of course the other nominees).”
Freeth Cartwright’s real estate team regularly features in the top legal handbooks, with Legal 500 describing the team as “light years ahead of the competition” and Chambers noting the firm has “unrivalled regional presence”.
