FREETH CARTWRIGHT SPONSORS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Freeth Cartwright were delighted to be one of the sponsors of the 2008 Times Higher Education Awards, held at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 23 October and attended by over 1,300 people, including representatives from over 70 universities and other HE bodies from all parts of the UK.

The event celebrated the achievements of the sector, recognising leaders in fields ranging from employer engagement and sustainable development, to excellence in the arts and innovation: Queen’s University Belfast launched a project to allow people to “hear” its prestigious silver collection using a personal digital assistant, while University of Greenwich has developed technology to capture greenhouse gas and turn it into rock for construction.

The award winning and renowned political commentator and teacher of modern history and cabinet government was commended by the judging panel as an inspiration to all those students fortunate enough to have been taught by him.

Commenting on the initiatives and projects showcased at the Awards, Philippa observed that these were “a testament to the fantastic work the HE sector is doing, not just in lecture theatres, laboratories and remotely, but in local communities, for the good of the environment, by offering more opportunities for disadvantaged groups and in partnership with business.”

Freeth Cartwright congratulate all those nominated for awards and the winners.
