Freeth Cartwright named Legal Team of the Year
FREETH CARTWRIGHT NAMED LEGAL TEAM OF THE YEAR
Regional heavyweight law firm Freeth Cartwright’s corporate finance team has been named Legal Team of the Year at yesterday’s Insider East Midlands Dealmakers Awards Dinner 2009, attended by more than 300 people.
The team, led by partner Karl Jansen, saw off competition from Browne Jacobson, HBJ Gateley Wareing, Berryman and Eversheds who were also short-listed for the award.
Mr Jansen said: “We are absolutely delighted that our endeavour in getting deals completed, even in this challenging economic climate, was recognised by the professional community, whose votes determined the winner. The award is testament to the hard work of the entire team, and we are all very proud of this achievement.”
Insider commented: “The law firm has had a cracking year, and a varied list of deal types shows just what it can do: private equity investments in companies such as Monsal, Funeral Services Partnership and Omega Red, sales like that of Construction Learning World and management buyouts such as the BWB deal. A really strong showing in a difficult year.”
Freeth Cartwright’s corporate finance team advises clients on a wide range of corporate transactions, including M&A, MBO’s, private equity and banking.
Recent deals include the £17million management buy-out of Cranswick Pet & Aquatics from listed food producer Cranswick PLC backed by Lloyds TSB Development Capital, and a £10million cash injection from Aberdeen Asset Managers Growth Capital to Lawrence Recycling and Waste Management, which helped the company to complete the development of their materials recycling facility at Kidderminster.
Freeth Cartwright’s corporate finance team regularly feature in the top legal handbooks, with a number of the corporate partners being recognised as ‘Leading Individuals’ by both Legal 500 and Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession.
