Freeth Cartwright set the challenge!
FREETH CARTWRIGHT SET THE CHALLENGE!
Nottingham law firm Freeth Cartwright LLP is urging businesses to saddle up for the Corporate Challenge at next month’s Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride and help raise money for local charities.
Entries are now open for the Freeth Cartwright Corporate Challenge following a Wattbike ride-off between businesses in the Market Square today (11th May).
Last year’s Corporate Challenge winners, Tenon, a corporate finance firm, were awarded a special trophy as recognition for raising approximately £1,000 of the total £15,000 for the official event charities.
Philippa Dempster, Head of Commercial Services at Freeth Cartwright, said: “The Freeth Cartwright Corporate Challenge was a huge success in 2008 and we are really pleased with how much money the teams managed to raise for the official event charities Cerebal Palsy Sport, Rainbow’s Children’s Hospice, Marie Curie Cancer Care and When You Wish Upon A Star.
“We’re hoping for more in 2009 and I recommend all local businesses get involved as it really is a great day out, perfect for team building and raises a lot for local, well deserving charities. We would like to see a Freeth Cartwright team emerge victorious this year, but the real victory would be an even bigger sum of money raised for charity.”
In 2008, 24 teams from local businesses took on the challenge to ride the 18 or 50 mile routes in teams of up to 5 people. This year all riders can choose which distance to ride and can choose the new 75 mile ride to really put themselves to the test.
Mick Burrows, Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “The 75 mile route will be included in the Corporate Challenge this year and we hope that teams will really aim high and give it a go. It’s not a massive step up from the 50 mile ride, so with a bit of extra training could be easily attainable. More importantly, the added distance may just persuade people to sponsor you that little bit more.”
The Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride, sponsored by Boots and organised by Nottinghamshire County Council takes place on Sunday 21st June 2009, starting and finishing at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottinghamshire. The event features 18, 50 and 75 mile rides and a family lap challenge around the rowing lake.
NHS Nottinghamshire County and Nottingham City NHS have even made loan bikes available free of charge to families wishing to take part in the Family Lap Challenge.
