CDM survey 2 years on - ‘Could do better’

A recent survey into the Construction (Design Management) Regulations 2007 has been conducted through CDM2007.org, which is controlled by Bromley Council. The online survey attracted responses from public and private sector organisations.

The main points were:

Lack of understanding

54% of participants are not confident that duty holding management colleagues understand their responsibilities under the CDM Regulations
47% of participants doubt whether duty holding colleagues within their organisation are competent to carry out their obligations under the CDM Regulations
Inadequate leadership and support

Lack of clear, visible leadership on the CDM Regulations from the top of an organisation is not uncommon
75% of participants said that there was a clear policy and responsibility chain as well as positive health and safety awareness within their organisations
60% of participants said that they received the support and resources needed to carry out their duties in accordance with the CDM Regulations
32% said that they were only adequately supported with regards the CDM Regulations
6% said they were not supported at all with the CDM Regulations
We are able to provide training which will highlight the roles and responsibilities of the parties involved in a construction project under the CDM Regulations.

If you are concerned about any health & safety management issues, we have a highly experienced team who can advise on legislation; good practice measures; health & safety policies; procedures and litigation.
