1st Conviction for Corporate Manslaughter - 17th February 2011

Yesterday Cotswold Geotechnical Holdings Limited became the first company to be convicted of the new offence of corporate manslaughter.

Alex Wright, a geologist, died on 5 September 2008 when investigating soil conditions in a deep trench on a development plot in Stroud when it collapsed and killed him.

A recent survey into the Construction (Design Management) Regulations 2007 has been conducted through CDM2007.org, which is controlled by Bromley Council. The online survey attracted responses from public and private sector organisations.
