Freeth Cartwright's Case Viewer hits top spot in Legal Technology Awards

Award-winning law firm Freeth Cartwright is celebrating once again after its innovative Case Viewer, a bespoke software system that provides a comprehensive electronic work environment for lawyers, scooped a major national accolade.

Beating three other major UK law firms, Case Viewer stole the show in the Fee Earner Desktop/Portal of the Year Award category at the Legal Technology Awards gala dinner held at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London.

Chief executive Peter Smith, who oversees the development and implementation of Case Viewer, was at the dinner. He said: “Case Viewer is the platform for our Electronic Working Environment Initiative that has been developed in-house and it’s fantastic that legal I.T. professionals outside of the firm share our view that it is a high-quality software package.

“We initially decided to develop the system as we felt that an off-the-shelf software system would not meet our requirements and would create too much disruption to current working practices.

“One of the many benefits of Case Viewer is that our work is carried out in a much more uniform manner, ensuring that there is a stronger brand consistency in our offering to clients.”

Case Viewer offers the firm’s lawyers easy access, whether in the office or remotely, to a single work environment including secure access to case-related information and vastly reduces its physical storage requirements, contributing to the firm’s environmentally-friendly paper reduction initiative.

The system provides lawyers with a complete view of all client and matter information stored in the firm’s practice management system. It also gives alerts in key quality and risk areas, furnishes the team with comprehensive supervision and reporting tools and offers extensive search facilities.

Now in their third year, the Legal Technology Awards are designed to celebrate excellence in the provision and implementation of technology solutions to legal practices and were launched in association with the Legal Technology Journal.
